Religion is older than civilisation, and religious plurality is as old as religion itself. It is only in our time, however, that this historical fact has become an existential dilemma, What are we to do in the face of religious plurality? One attitude has been to regard all religions as false, and destined to disappear in the course of time. Another attitude has been to regard one religion as true and all others as false.
