WHAT GOES ON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?

Imagine you are standing in front of a door at the end of a long hall.
You knock three times and the door opens to reveal a robed figure
holding a sword. You give the password and the guardian lowers his
sword and steps aside to reveal a candlelit temple. You smell incense
and see robed and hooded shapes standing around an altar in the
centre of the room. You take your place, and the ceremony begins.
As intriguing as it might seem to the uninitiated, entry to the temple
and participation in ceremony is merely the ‘outer court’ of the
mysteries. Entry to the inner court demands an entirely different
level of commitment that involves years of training and practice.
